General description

The learning materials are based on specialty texts which terminology develops a learner’s ESP skills and content supplements a student’s speciality competence. Active learning techniques, based on CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), are applied.
Course materials require the learners´ language skills on B2 level.

General aim

The objective of the course is to enhance students' specialty knowledge in the English language. The ESP competence enables a student to participate in international projects and discussions; take part in student exchange; make effective use of specialty texts; listen to lectures and make presentations in English.

Aim

After completing the course a student
• is familiar with the presentation requirements and applies them in making presentations;
• has mastered the terminology of the covered topics;
• applies specialty terminology in exercises, dialogues and in reporting texts.

Form description

The course takes place in the spring semester. Course capacity is 78 academic hours (32 hours of practical classes and 46 hours of learners' independent work).

Evaluation methods

Graded evaluation at the end of the course is based on the grades of tests and oral assignments during the semester.

Grading criteria are provided with oral explanations by lecturer at the beginning of the course.
