General description
In the ESP course students practice and develop their oral and written communication on the following topics: Higher education in Estonia and in English-speaking countries. The TTK/UAS.
Topics related to specialty - reading, translating and reporting the texts, mastering professional vocabulary.
Principles of making up Power Point presentations. Performing presentation on a freely chosen topic
Grammar exercises based on the texts.
Independent work: home reading - texts related to specialty.
General aim
The ESP course is for the students of all curricula.
The objective of the course is to introduce and practice basic ESP vocabulary and to develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through interactive and communicative activities.
Course materials require the learners´ language skills on B2 level.
Aim
After completing the course student:
1. can introduce his/her university both orally and in writing;
2. can make up and deliver oral presentations;
3. can distinguish significant and insignificant information when compiling abstracts;
4. knows the covered professional vocabulary, can use it orally and in writing.
Form description
Practical classes (group and pair work, role plays, presentations).
Independent work (texts on paper and web environment).

Evaluation methods
1. Written tests to check professional vocabulary;
2. Prepared oral presentation;
3. Oral and written reporting of texts;
4. Group work: putting forward and solving problems.

Grading criteria are provided with oral explanations by lecturer at the beginning of the course.
