Subject 'English for Special Purposes I'Name in Estonian: Inglise keel I (erialane)
General descriptionThe learning materials are based on specialty texts which terminology develops a learner’s ESP skills and content supplements a student’s speciality competence. Active learning techniques, based on CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), are applied.
Course materials require the learners´ language skills on B2 level. General aimThe objective of the course is to enhance students' specialty knowledge in the English language. The ESP competence enables a student to participate in international projects and discussions; take part in student exchange; make effective use of specialty texts; listen to lectures and make presentations in English.
AimAfter completing the course a student
• is familiar with the presentation requirements and applies them in making presentations; • has mastered the terminology of the covered topics; • applies specialty terminology in exercises, dialogues and in reporting texts. Form descriptionThe course takes place in the spring semester. Course capacity is 78 academic hours (39 hours of practical classes and 39 hours of learners' independent work).
