Learning outcomesStudents having passed the curriculum:
• has gained profound knowledge of the academic basis and theories of social work; analyses and recognises the practical reality of the profession; • critically analyses the problems and developments of social field understanding and explaining their sructural causes and mechanisms; • understands the professional methods used by social workers according to the values, culture and the priorities according to the context; • does social work with different target groups taking the role of an activator and enhancer according to the holistic approach; • notices and finds possibilities for prevention and mitigation of professional problems, and evaluates the results; • participates in professional discussions in Estonian and at least in one foreign language; • has gained the communication, and counselling skills for social work, and implements them in their work exploiting contemporary ICT tools; • shows initiative and competence in providing services and participating in project work, demonstrating leadership and team work skills, and associating social work with close fields of work; • takes part in professional and volunteer community work reflecting their role and the results, and taking responsibility in unexpected work situations; • presents innovative ideas that improve the institutional and community welfare, encourages research, and takes the leadership position in implementing the ideas and research.
