Learning outcomesStudents having passed the curriculum:
• understand professional terminology, legislation and social services system; • have necessary knowledge and skills for social worker’s work and are able to use them in the work process; • know social work ethics and values, follow them in profession and life every day; • know the patterns of development in social field: see and find possibilities for prevention and relieving the professional problems; • assess the needs of clients of different age groups and with disabilities, and assist them by using appropriate social work methods and resources available; • are able to participate in professional discussions in Estonian and in one foreign language; • have appropriate communication and counselling skills necessary for the work with clients and are able to apply them using contemporary communication techniques and info communication technologies • apply their knowledge in project work using the knowledge and skills in management, team work and economy; • are ready to participate in professional and voluntary work in a community and are able to evaluate the results of their role and activities; • are able to create a support network according to the client’s problem, and coordinate the activity.
