General descriptionStandards for design of steel strcutres. Actions on structures. Basic physical and mechanical properties of steel. Steel sections. Basic principles of the calculation of steel structures. Calculation in the ultimate and serviceability limit state. Design of joints. Production and monitoring of steel structures. Basis of stuctural fire design. Basis of protection against corrosion. In plane steel structures and assuring spatial stability. Steel structures of buildings.
General aimThe objective of the course is to provide the students knowledge for the design of simpler steel structures and skills for the use of the respective standard documents.
AimAfter completing the course the student:
1. is able to use standard documents related to steel structures; 2. knows the most important properties of steel and steel products; 3. knows how to evaluate the resistance of cross-sections, buckling resistance and deformations; 4. is able to calculate most common joints and connections of steel structures. Form descriptionLectures, exercises, independent tasks.
