Subject 'Building Design + Course Project'Name in Estonian: Hoone kavandamine + projekt
General descriptionThe subject course is a continuation to the course ’Structural Elements’ and deals with the architectural and structural design of residential and public buildings and the formation of a course project.
General aimThe main task of the course is to give the students basic knowledge about designing residential and public buildings according to the initial task requirements.
To learn how to use valid standards and requirements for design. AimAfter completing the course the student:
1. has an overview of and is able to use the Building Code and Planning Act and other normative documents and standards regulating the design of residential and public buildings; 2. knows the different structural solutions of residential and public buildings and is able to design the simpler ones; 3. knows how to calculate the loads acting on buildings; 4. is able to apply the knowledge acquired in the course ’Structural Elements’ to design simple residential and public buildings; 5. is able to compile the project including an explanatory letter and drawings.
