General descriptionThe topics of the ESP course are related to the specialty. The learning materials are based on specialty texts which terminology develops a learner’s ESP skills and content supplements a student’s speciality competence. Active learning techniques, based on CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), are applied.
General aimThe aim of the course is to enhance specialty knowledge in the English language. The ESP competence enables a student to participate in international projects and discussions; take part in student exchange; make effective use of specialty texts; listen to lectures and make presentations in English.
AimA student
• is able to make a presentation on specialty; • has mastered the terminology of the covered topics; • applies specialty terminology in exercises, dialogues and in reporting texts and writing summaries. Form descriptionCourse capacity is 78 academic hours: 39 hours of practical classes and 39 hours of independent work.

ESP texts chosen by lecturers (Internet-based texts and worksheets, texts from professional journals). Evaluation methodsExamination grade at the end of the course is made up of all test and task grades during the semester (70%) and an examination grade (30%).
