Subject 'Basics of Engineering Design of Waste Management'

Types of waste management constructions: waste ground for mixed municipal waste, hazardous waste, or inert waste. Definitions. Principles. Waste generation and classification. Requirement for a waste ground. Location. Feasibility study. A detailed plan. Procedure requirements to establish a waste ground. Preliminary design. Construction permit. Main project. Landfill permit. Use. Closure. A research based on an overview of one Estonian landfill will be compiled.

The object of the course is to give an overview of the system of waste management, the location for a waste management construction, and planning of the concerning land.

Student:
- Knows the technological scheme of waste management authority, is able to design and plan a waste management construction.
