Subject 'Construction Statics, Calculation of Loadings'Name in Estonian: Ehitusstaatika ja koormuste arvutus
General descriptionAn overview is given of statically determined and undetermined structures and stability of structural members. The internal forces and displacements of main structural elements such as simple and continuous beams, trusses, frames, and arch's are calculated. Computer programmes used for structural design are learned.
General aimBasic knowledges to create models of structures and to determine internal forces and deformations. Working principles of structures subjected to different loads.
AimAfter completing the course the student:
1. has an overview of working principles of different types of constructions and their models; 2. is able to create and analyze models of bar structures; 3. can calculate the internal forces of simplest statically determined bar structures and stability of compressed bars; 4. has an overview of working principles statically undetermined bar structures; 5. has an overview of deformations of structures and can calculate the displacements of simplest bar structures; 6. has a basic knowledge about moving loads; 7. can use computer programs and handbooks; 8. knows the basics of determining imposed loads, snow loads and wind loads. Form descriptionLectures, practical lessons and independent work.
