Subject 'Structural Elements II'Name in Estonian: Hoone osad II
General descriptionAn overview is given about the general requirements, set for buildings and their structures. The following chapters of the elements of buildings are learned: skeletons, inserted ceilings, stairs, opening fillers, roofs and floors. Main design principles of different elements of a building (home assignments 3
7) and the basics of compiling the respective working drawings are dealt with.
General aimStructural Elements II is a continuation to the course Structural Elements I.
The objective of the course is to provide the students knowledge about the built up of buildings and the structures being used. During the course the students compile independent homework that is a preparation for the later architectural design in the courses "Dwellings" and "Public and Industrial Buildings". AimHaving passed the course the students must know:
- structural schemes of different buildings; - structures, used for building different elements of buildings and assemblies of buildings that occur more often; Knowledge about building materials and their fields of application in constructing buildings has to be deepened. Form descriptionTheoretical basics are mastered in lectures. Every theme is deepened in practical trainings where the main basics of the theme are studied deeply. On the basis of this homework is compiled in the form of individual assignments: the selection of the structure of walls and the selection of heads for covering openings; composing an inserted ceiling of prefabricated elements, designing stairs for plans and sections, views of a building.
