General description

An overview of various factors dictating town construction: historical, economic, functional, social, ethnic, ecological. The problems of contemporary town construction - environmentally sustainable planning and the 21st century developments in town planning, their dependency on politics, self-initiative interest groups, ownership-related aspects. ArchitectŽs prospects in creating environmental space. Preliminary exam: Analysis of real urban space presented as a spacial solution; explanatory letter.

General aim

Teaching to analise urban space taking into account all the factors shaping it.

Aim

Students after completing the course have learned the methods of town construction analysis; have obtained an overview of combined effect of different factors which influence and shape the urban space like spacial, social, historical, functional and a lot others; obtain the experience and ability to observe environment and to use it in their creative work both in drawing up planning designs and 3D designs.

Form description

Lectures and practical work: drawing up an analysis of real urban space. The work is presented graphically with an explanatory letter. The course of the work is introduced in three interim inspections.
