Aim

The general objective of the applied higher education curriculum is the preparation of the student for work in the chosen specialty. The task of the modules of general education and basic subjects of the curriculum is to develop the general educational basis and social maturity of the students. The acquisition of professional knowledge and skills takes place via theoretical subjects and practical classes, given in the curriculum, and through carrying out practical trainings in enterprises (working environment), Knowledge and skills of the graduates give special competence enabling to work as specialist with constantly changing road transport technology mainly in the field of sales, maintenance and repair, supervise. It is possible to have option to specialize on automotive maintenance and repair or on road traffic management. Postgraduates can apply on master programme.

Learning outcomes

The student who has passed the curriculum in full amount has the following competencies:
- has a systematic overview of automotive terms, theoretical principles and research methods;
- is familiar with the problems of automotive engineering, and is able to find relevant solutions;
- is able to find work-related information and use it in a creative way;
- is able to discuss and contribute to solving traffic management problems;
- knows the basics of road safety and is able to share one’s professional knowledge;
- shows initiative in launching projects, is able to participate in project teamwork and implement project outcomes;
- is able to communicate with colleagues and clients;
- has the necessary skills to work with various technical software and other information systems;
- is able to use professional language to express oneself orally and in writing in one’s native and at least one foreign language;
- has a good command of professional terminology, knows and follows the legislation and regulations that apply to the specialty;
- is capable of actively participating in citizen society and tolerates diversity of attitudes and values;
- is able, taking into account social and ethical aspects, to assess the role and consequences of professional activities;
- understands the need for lifelong learning, is capable of independent professional development.
