General descriptionBasics of theoretical mechanics and strength analysis. Dynamics of acceleration and braking. Power balance. Vehicle economy characteristics. Steering ability and kinematics. Longitudal and lateral stability. Passability. Driving smoothness, vibration and noise. Measurement technique - straight and non-straight driving dynamics.
General aimCourse objectives include giving knowledge about:
- theoretical mechanics; - material and constructions strength analysis; - vehicle motion dynamics; - auotmotive stability and safety related factors; - constructional influences to vehicle motion; - measurement technique for above topics. AimStudent
- can calculate forces based on loaded structures; - knows forces acting on motor-vehicle in motion; - can calculate and describe accelerations of motor-vehicle; - can calculate and analyse stability of motor-vehicle in different conditions and road situations; - can assess energy balance of vehicle in motion; - knows how to test vehicle motion using testing equipment and anlysing results. - can use modelling software to simulate vehicle motion. Evaluation methodsStudent passes all individual study tasks in moodle course.
Student: 1) creates spreadsheet calculations of vehicle motion 2) conducts practical measurements on vehicle motion and analyses measurement results in a report. Passing practical assignments is 50% of the course outcome and is mandatory to take part in exam. Name of the e-learning course at Moodle environment (http://ekool.tktk.ee)starting from 01.09.2019
