General descriptionThe history of architecture (part I) gives an overview of the history of architecture from the prehistoric time to the end of Middle Age. The course also looks into the Estonian architectural history of the corresponding time.
General aimTo create basics in order to orientate in architectural discipline.
To give structured general knowledge about the architectural history. To understand the development of visual art-culture as well as how to observe and evaluate architectural monuments. AimStudents
- obtains knowledge about architectural history and understands architectural development of historical periods; - knows mentalities and styles of each historical periods and understands their relationship; - is able to find differences and similarities in different countries and histrical periods; - knows important buildings of periods and can analyse historical and stylistic point of view; - understands the social role of the profession and ethics of architect as well as respect designed environment.
