General description

The course introduces different wooden building construction techniques including both historical and contemporary methods.
This supports Architectural Design I - Summerhouse which takes place in parallel.

General aim

Provide sufficient knowledge of building technology related to architecture.

Aim

Students
- understands designing of structures, construction and engineering issues related to the design project of a building;
- has knowledge of physics and technological functions, building structures, local building materials;
- knows how to use scientific engineering knowledge for compiling architectural design projects, is capable of cooperation with a civil engineer.

Form description

The course consists of lectures, field trips, seminars, group work and individual work. Lectures are in estonian with english summary.

Evaluated on 100-point scale: short exercises 30 points, group works 20 points, references 20 points, detail drawings 30 points.
