Basic calculations and design principles of masonry structures. Masonry building design principles. Using of reinforced concrete in building practice. Design of the main parts of the building and necessary calculations: beams, posts, ceiling slabs, foundations. Using of precast elements in construction and the principles of pre-stressed concrete. General aimThe objective of the course is to give the basic knowledge of the materials, working principles and design of reinforced concrete and masonry structures
AimAfter completing the course the student:
1. has an overview of materials used; 2. can determine loads for buildings; 3. has an overview of typical solutions of reinforced concrete and masonry structures; 4. can estimate basic dimensions of structural elements. Form descriptionLectures and independent work
