Materials usable in masonry structures. Types of masonry. Loads impact on structures. Basic calculations and design principles of masonry structures. Masonry building design principles. Calculating of simplest constructive details.

The objective of the course is to give the basic knowledge of the materials, working principles and design of masonry structures.

After completing the course the student:
1. has an overview of materials used and types of masonry;
2. can calculate basic elements and details;
3. has an overview of typical solutions of masonry buildings;
4. has an overview of design codes.
