Subject 'Building Information Modeling'Name in Estonian: Ehitusinfo modelleerimine (BIM)
General descriptionCivil Engineering
BIM. Revit. SketchUP. Tekla BIMsight. Road Construction Infra BIM. Preliminary design model creation and visualization. Intelligent infrastucture models. Quantity take-offs. Clash detection. 4D/5D simulations. Visualization, animations. General aimThe course gives an overview about the building information modeling (BIM) theory, roles, technologies and applications in vertical (buildings) and horizontal (roads, infrastructure) design disciplines. One objective of the course is to teach BIM software intensively and the ability to continue the software learning process independently.
AimCivil Engineering
The student who has passed the subject, can: 1. is familiar with the common BIM terminology; 2. is able to differentiate between 3D and BIM technology; 3. is able to use Trimble SketchUp at a beginner’s level; 4. is able to use Autodesk Revit at an intermediate level; 5. is able to use Tekla BIMsight at a beginner’s level. Road Construction The student who has passed the subject, can: 1. explain common “BIM for Infrastructure“ (horizontal construction) terminology; 2. create preliminary infrastructure model from where to move on into preliminary/principal project stage; 3. create intelligent (data rich) infrastructure models; 4. create infrastructure virtual design and construction models; 5. create a visualization for infrastructure idea/principal project; 6. create a road reconstruction project.
