General descriptionBasic concepts, energy and power units. The Earth's energy balance, energetics and the historical development of the energy consumption. Renewable and non-renewable energy resources. The energy transformation, transmission and storage. Power plants. Energy usage. Safety assurance electricity usage. The environmental effects of energy equipment. Energy development trends. Energy management and energy conservation.
General aim1) provide an overview of the Earth's energy supplies and evolution of energy consumption;
2) provide an overview of the energy recovery, conversion, transmission and storage; 3) introduction of energy systems and power plants; 4) an understanding of the environmental effects of energy equipment; 5) an understanding of developments trends of energetics. AimAfter completing the course the student:
1) has knowledge of the Earth's energy supplies and the evolution of energy consumption; 2) has knowledge of energy generation, transformation, transmission and storage; 3) Has a clear idea of the energy and power engineering principles; 4) Has a clear idea of the environmental effects by energy equipment; 5) has knowledge of the energy developments. Evaluation methodsEach student prepares a home-made presentation about the lecture materials, with the length of up to 10 minutes. The report will be presented at the beginning of each lecture. The presentation is of the preconditions to pass the exam. The participation of lectures must be at least 50%.
The exam is in written, contains 10 questions and lasts for four hours. A student who has passed all quizzes (8 pcs) and received positive result of the presentation can choose only five questions out of ten exam questions to answer.
