General descriptionBiaxial bending. The basis of the strength of materials. Characteristics of cross-sections. Normal stresses. Shear stresses. Deformations and displacements. Stability.
General aimThe general aim of the course is to give base knowledge on the design of structures that have to ensure, that the structure dos not collapse or deform excessively.
AimThe student:
1. knows what are the criteria for elements according to the strength of materials; 2. knows how to calculate the center of gravity and characteristics of cross-sections for both, simple and complex cross-sections; 3. is able to calculate all stresses, that can occur in building structures, knows how to construct stress diagrams, calculate the load-bearing capacity and design cross-sections; 4. knows how to calculate displacements resulting from normal- and bendingdeformations. Form descriptionStudies consist of theoretical and practical lectures and independent work.
