Subject 'Theoretical Mechanics'Name in Estonian: Teoreetiline mehaanika
General descriptionMain concepts, marks and axioms of statics. The concept of force. The adding and subtracting of forces. The conditions of static equilibrium of system of assembling forces on flats - balance equations. The concepts of friction and rolling resistance. The conditions of static equilibrium of arbitrary and spatial system of forces. The determination of center of mass of body, flat and line. The stability of body on flat. Kinematics. The determination of trajectory of moving point. The concepts of veloctity and acceleration of moving point on flat and by rotating. Special features of moving point. The main laws of dynamics. Two basic tasks of dynamics of free point. The inertial force. The method of kinetostatics by particle. The concept of force by work and power. Main theorems of dynamics.
General aimTo familiarize students with the basis of theoretical mechanics and abilities to apply the knowledge in technical subjects: strength of materials, machine parts and theory of mechanism.
AimThe student who has mastered this course knows the basis of theoretical mechanics and is able to apply the knowledge in technical subjects and also in solving corresponding problems in everyday life.

Evaluation methodsDuring the course students will perform two tests. The course ended with exam. . There in examinations ticket are three theoretical and two exercises. Theoretical question correctly answered is worth one point, two points correctly solved the exercise The theoretical questions are about: the statics, the kinematics and the dynamics. Solved the exercise correctly gives two points, the theoretical question correctly answered is worth one point. So achieved the result in interval from 90% .. 100% will be graded 5 "excellent", from 80% .. 90% gives four "very good", 70% .. 80% accomplishes three "good", 60% .. 70% accomplishes two "satisfactory", 50% .. 60% accomplishes one "poor" and 50% accomplishes 0 "inadequate". "Poor" will perform the exam.
The exam must be completed at least grade "2". Is taught in following curriculaRelated subjects
