General description

Topic 1: Employment and the Hiring Process. Applying for a job, writing a CV and cover letter, job interview; personnel and employment issues.
Topic 2: Team Building.
Topic 3: Product Development. Product development process and presentation.
Topic 4: Business across Cultures. Intercultural business communication, cultural differences in management styles.
Topic 5: Negotiations.

General aim

The aim of this course is to develop elementary speaking and writing skills in business contexts. This is done through roll-plays, simulations, discussions, pair work, reports, a presentation and short writing exercises. In parallel a wide range of business-related topics are discussed.

Aim

Student who has successfully passed the course is able to:
- manage in job interview context (CV, accompanying letter, self-presentation);
- develop and present a specialty related product/service;
- communicate with others in building a team and in product presentation discussion;
- assess cultural differences in business communication and discuss this topic in English;
- express himself in English in a negotiation situation.

Form description

Practical and classroom work (for group and pair activities, etc.). The course is partly web-based. Tasks and exercises are done on-line and are checked in Moodle environment.
