Dimensioning and toleranzing are very important issues in product design and manufacture. This paper gives a survey and review of the current state-of-the-art solutions to the problem of finding a meaning for dimensions and tolerances. Dimensioning and toleranzing in current engineering practices and researches in these topics are also discussed. General aimCourse is provided for MI, TI, AT product development curriculum module.
Introduction: The purpose of this course is to give an introduction to the topic of geometric dimensioning and toleranzing. With the increase of interchangeable manufacturing where companies are producing parts all over the world, it is necessary to produce drawings where nothing is left to interpretation. Geometric dimensioning and toleranzing, when applied appropriately, leaves little room for interpretation. It allows for consistency between design, manufacturing, and inspection. The standard that specifies correct practices for dimensioning and toleranzing and will cover terminology used in geometric dimensioning and toleranzing, method for reading feature control frames, datum reference frame theory, and explanations of each geometric characteristic. AimThe graduates can independently solve engineering and technical tasks of designing developing, toleranzing and technological process.
Is able to assess the accuracy of the importance of product design, in manufacturing process and to ensure the quality. Is familiar with specialized terminology and vocabulary, and are able to orienting in standards. Is able to handle, and use appropriate measuring equipment in mechanical engineering.
