General aimThe object of the course is to give an overview of the principles of the geographic information systems (GIS), possibilities and tools for administrating, analyzing and presenting spatial data, an overview of legislative, national records and environmental data bases in Estonia, guidelines of the European Union, its reporting obligation and data bases, including spatial data.
AimStudent:
- Knows the basics of geoinformatics and GIS, possibilities and tools for administrating, analyzing and presenting spatial data - Possesses an overview o legislative, national records and environmental data bases in Estonia, guidelines of the European Union, its reporting obligation and data bases, including spatial data. - Knows the main factors that affect the quality of spatial data, knows what are metadata, why are they necessary.
