General descriptionThe need and topology of an Information Network. Network protocol standards. Seven-Layer Open System Model ISO-7. Data Network equipment, maximum transmission distance of a signal, data transmission speed, the Communication Method, data portion size, the Arbitration Method, error detection and diagnosis. Network openness. Wireless Internet (WiFi). Data Security. Ethernet, InterBus-S, DeviceNet, Profibus, CAN and others. Wireless sensors and networks (Zigbee, etc..). An overview of modern Data Networks, equipment and software.
General aimTo provide knowledge about the nature of Information Networks, their industrial classification and characteristics and data transmission principles between networks.
AimKursuse läbinu tunneb infovõrkude liike, olemust ning võrkudevahelise andmeedastuse metoodikaid. Kursuse läbinu oskab seadistada tööstuslikke infovõrkude riist- ja tarkvara.

Evaluation methodsThe course ends with the final account. Positively executed test and practical work are the prerequisites of the accounting. Test consists written questions within the framework of the lecture material. The final grade will turn out from the average grades of the test and the practical work.
