Subject 'Electrical Machines'Name in Estonian: Elektrimasinad
General descriptionThe nature of electromagnetic and electromechanical processes. Conversion of electrical energy into mechanical energy and vice versa. Transformers, their working principles, main types and areas of use. Ideal transformer and transformer equivalent circuits. Types of electrical motors, construction, operating principles, characteristics, start-up and adjustment. Generators.
General aimThe course is aimed for clarification of physical processes, which are the basis of working principles of electrical transformers and motors, as well as giving an overview of their types, construction, operations, areas of use, and technical parameters.
AimThe student knows the basic types of transformers and electrical machines and their operating principles. The student is able to perform mathematical calculations based on ideal transformer and through transformer equivalent circuits. The student is familiar with meanings of the parameters and is capable of selecting an appropriate transformer or electrical machine. Knows the speed and torque control options of the electrical motor and is able to run the equipment.
