General description

Hardware configuration and their systems. Productivity. Working capacity,
mechanical engineering materials and properties. History and classification of sewing machines. Basic parts of sewing machines. Needles. Universal sewing machines. Special purpose sewing machines. Cloth cutting machines. Hot-wet processing equipment. Ironing and completion equipment.

General aim

Basic mechanical engineering knowledge. To give knowledge about
- construction of sewing machines;
- equipment of contemporary sewing industry;
- choice of equipment according to work process.

Aim

Student have to know about sewing machine and how sewing machine works. On completion of the course students
- are familiar with the catalogues of contemporary sewing equipment;
- is able to operate, maintain and repair basic sewing machines;
- can relate sewing equipment to contemporary sewing materials and technology.

Form description

Required knowledge in sewing technologies is provided during the lectures. Practical abilities are obtained during laboratory works. Testing of knowledge is executed mark at the end of the course. Lectures, laboratory work, independent work. Grading at the end of the course.
