General description

Making up two projects. Lectures are held as an introduction to the projects. Kevin Lynch analysis to make oneself familiar with the object. Study of historical background. Development of self-expression skills through writing essays and defending sketches. The concept of small design elements. Small design elements in and out of a room. Small design elements in the nature. Small design elements of consumer value (park benches, dustbins, childrenŽs play grounds, etc). Small design elements - shaping environment (sculptures, monuments, fountains, etc).

General aim

Obtaining the skills to make up a rough urban landscaping project in the course of spatial design; obtaining fundamentals of planning outer space in cooperation of an architect and a landscape designer; overview of plants growing in Estonia and making oneself familiar with various surface covering plants and different possibilities of their use; to introduce and explain the concept of small design elements.

Aim

After completing the course a student is able to use the products of dendrological inventory in architectŽs work, to design urban landscape proceeding from the peculiarities of our climate using simpler plants, surface covering (plants) and street furniture. A prospective architect is able to give an initial task to a landscape designer working together with him/her.
