Subject 'Urban Planning I'

Theoretical part of the course contains lectures and practical part is a term project - a draft project of detail planning which also includes an analysis of the location of given site. The project has to consider existing buildings, landscape and road network. The project includes the solutions of landscaping and traffic. Architectural solution of the planning is to be shown on presentation board and a model.

To introduce the need and principles of planning project.

Student after completing the course will obtain an overview about planning projects and of their importance in terms of creating the environment through a series of lectures and the term project

The main focus is to obtain the skills of planning process as a part of designing environment. Lectures focus on the role of spatial planning in creating of an environment and the importance of architectural thought in the process. All the students participate in the instruction of their projects to train the skills of team working and presentation of own ideas. Lectures give an overview of legal and other regulatory aspects of town planning. In the course of the project there are three reviews presenting their ideas in front of the rest of the course-mates.

There are 2 reviews or discussions. The students must participates all reviews to successfully defend their works at the end. The defence will take place in front of the commission with participation of all the students. The evaluation criteria is; fulfillment of all tasks and practical requirements, urban analysis and concept, originality of architectural proposal, presentation including model, and participation in lectures and consultations.
