Subject 'Construction Statics'Name in Estonian: Ehitusstaatika
General descriptionA building consists of a large amount of elements joined together in a specific way. The dimensions of those elements seperately was the aim of the course strength of materials. The aim of constrction statics is determining the best shape for that set of elements, finding the inner forces and studying the stability of that structure.
General aimDuring the course an overview will be given of systems of bars, statically determined and indetermined structures, their stability and shape. Main load carrying structures like hinged beams, continuous beams, arches, frames and trusses will be studied – finding their inner forces and applying the ULS condition.
AimIn the end of the course the student:
1) knows how to determine a structures degree of freedom and it’s structural determinability 2) Recognises different types of structures and their particular features 3) Is able to find support reactions and inner forces of different types of structures 4) Can analyse and evaluate if the result is realistic Form descriptionLectures + independent work (exercises)
