Subject 'Construction Statics'Name in Estonian: Ehitusstaatika
General descriptionAn overview is given of shape stability of bar structures, statically determined and undetermined structures and stability of structural members. The internal forces and displacements of main structural elements such as simple and continuous beams, frames and arches are calculated. A quick overview is also done of 3D frames and suspended bar structures.
General aimConstruction statics is a link between theoretical subjects, such as theoretical mechanics and strength of materials, and programmes of structural design. Further knowledge is gained in theory and practical design.
AimThe student who has passed the course is able to create and analyze real structural models. Knowledge is gained in the field of using handbooks and computer-aided design.
Form descriptionThe course is divided into equally important lectures and practical lessons. Hometasks are solved as independent work.
