TTK University of Applied Sciences
Subject 'Theoretical Mechanics'Name in Estonian: Teoreetiline mehaanika
General descriptionThe course of technical mechanics is a prerequisite for starting the studies of strength of materials and construction statics. In the speciality of architecture an overview is given about the basic notions and axioms of mechanics. To be more exact operations with forces and force systems are dealt with. Balance conditions and their applications in finding the support reactions of main building structures. Finding the internal forces of plane girder rods is learned. The course confines with the tasks of statics; kinematics and dynamics are dealt with only to the extent that is needed for understanding a dynamic load.
General aimThe aim of the course of theoretical mechanics is to provide students the necessary prior knowledge for learning specific engineering problems.
AimThe student who has mastered this course knows the basis of theoretical mechanics and is able to apply the knowledge in technical subjects and also in solving corresponding problems in everyday life.
Form descriptionClassroom work is divided into lectures and practical classes. As independent work home tasks are solved for all problems that are learned and there are two tests during the term
