Subject 'Reinforced Concrete Structures + Course Project'Name in Estonian: Raudbetoonkonstruktsioonid + projekt
General descriptionUsing of reinforced concrete in building practice. Design of the main parts of the building and necessary calculations: beams, posts, ceiling slabs, foundations. Using of precast elements in construction and the principles of pre-stressed concrete.
General aimThe objective of the course is to give the basic knowledge of the materials, working principles and design of reinforced concrete structures.
AimAfter completing the course, the student:
1. knows the properties of reinforced concrete and its constituents and how to use these properties; 2. has an overview of compounding of reinforced concrete structural frames of different buildings; 3. has an overview of typical solutions of main parts of the buildings – foundations, columns, walls, ceilings; 4. knows how structural elements can crush and what is necessary to do for preventing of crushing, also can do elementary strength calculations.
