Properties and nature of steel. Steel defects and damages. Work with steel-related standard documents. Principles for calculation of steel structures. Calculation in the state of bearing and operational limit. Connections of steel structures. Plane beam systems. Steel posts, arches, frames. Plane lattice girder systems. Guaranteeing the spatial stability. Production and monitoring of steel structures. Fire protection. Steel structures of buildings and bridges.

The objective of the course is to provide the students knowledge for the design of steel structures and skills for the use of the respective standard documents.

Having passed the course the student:
- must be able to use standard documents and dimension as well as design mostly spread steel structures.

At lectures the theoretical basics of design is learned and sample tasks are done. Knowledge is tested by a written exam.
