TTK University of Applied Sciences
Subject 'Construction Statics, Calculation of Loadings'Name in Estonian: Ehitusstaatika ja koormuste arvutus
General descriptionAn overview is given of statically determined and undetermined structures and stability of structural members. The internal forces and displacements of main structural elements such as simple and continuous beams, frames, and arch's are calculated. A quick overview is also done of 3D frames and suspended structures. Computer programmes used for structural design are learned.
General aimConstruction statics is a link between the theoretical subjects, such as theoretical mechanics and strength of materials, and programmes of structural design. Further knowledge is gained in theory and practical design.
AimThe student who has passed the course is able to create and analyze real structural models. Knowledge is gained in the field of using handbooks and computer-aided design.
Form descriptionClassroom work is divided into equally important lectures and practical lessons. Lessons may be in the computer class. Students' independent studying comprises of homework's and independent work in the computer class.
