General description

Brief Description of Practice: Safety of the work. Tools and equipment used in practical assignments. General description of the metal processing operations. Cutting. Drilling. Cuticles. Sawing. Demarcation. Measurement. Sharpening. Threading. Riveting. Bending.

Aim

Purpose of Engineering Materials practice is getting to know of mechanical properties of materials and metals processing operations in the practice. Provide an insight into these operations, the tools and equipment, and learning the principles of a montage of simple assemblies.

Form description

Individual practical work in classroom. Assignments about mechanical properties of materials.

Evaluation methods

Assessment methods
Formative and summative assessments are used. The precondition for assessment is participation in the workshops and group work, and the learner’s personal improvement, which reflects in the quality and level grades of the practical work, and summative assessment at the end of the learning process. The assessment methods comprise practical tasks, analysis and a written paper.
Individual practical assignments 50% (3 per semester)
Lab assignments in groups 50% (3 per semester)
