General description

Short course description: explanation of the principle notions of geology, structure of the Earth, internal and external forces, weathering, the effects of running water, the seas, and glaciers. The earth’s geological past. Estonia’s geological structure and natural resources. Reading geological maps.
Explanation of the principle notions of hydrogeology, the origin of ground water, types of ground water, its physical and chemical properties and their change in time and space. The main Estonian ground water layers, the chemical zonality of ground water. Laws of ground water movement. The Water Act and ground water protection. Reading hydro geological maps.

General aim

The objective of the course is to introduce the structure of the planet Earth, geological processes in general, and the geological structure of Estonia as well as the principle notions of hydrogeology and hydro geological conditions in Estonia.

Aim
