Subject 'Culture, Ethics and Heritage Protection'Name in Estonian: Kultuur, eetika ja muinsuskaitse
General descriptionAn introductory course on culture and ethics which deals with the formation of moral values in different cultures, intercultural differences, the necessity to know them and their significance in the modern society.
The course gives a survey about the more important types of memorials and principles of heritage protection as well as the organisation of heritage protection in Estonia. It also introduces the main legal acts that regulate heritage protection and gives a short survey about the heritage of architecture and visual art in Estonia. General aimTo introduce different types of categories of ethics, justify the necessity for moral behaviour in the society, relating it to different cultures and differences in different cultures. To encourage students to develop their own theories of morality and moral attitudes towards the society.
AimStudent:
- knows the differences and similarities of moral values in different cultures; - can orientate in moral problems of the modern society, peculiarities of national characters as well as interrelations of different religions and principles of moral and - has deepened knowledge of heritage protection.
