General descriptionFormation of science, stages of its development. The role of science in contemporary European culture. Scientific methodology of world cognition. Formation, problems and development of the philosophy of science and technology.
General aimThe purpose of the course is to give students knowledge for active participation in the social life of a civic society, providing them with necessary skills to assess the role of their professional activity and its impacts on the community.
AimAfter completing the course students
- are familiar with basic terms of philosophy listed in the syllabus; - orientate in the main schools of philosophy; - can differentiate between classical and global philosophical problems; - are aware of differences between classical and modern science. Form descriptionLectures, seminars, independent reading of articles, making up and presenting a report, written test after completion of the course.
