Subject 'Designing of Roads'Name in Estonian: Tee projekteerimine
General descriptionRoad designing rules, road classification and roads in planning documents. Profitability. The basis of route choice. Designs starting level. The road grade and traffic volume, throughput, level of service. Loads and structure safety. The basic parameters of roads, road users, roads and constructions limited dimensions. Route plan, longitudinal profile, cross profile, their production bases. Road bed base, its constructive solutions and basis of design. Pavements, their classification, loads, materials, construction; intersections, junction plans and vertical solutions; railroad intersections; constructions on highways, the requirements for those constructive solutions; walkways, the plan and vertical solutions, crossing utility networks, requirements for crosses, solutions.
General aimThe course aims to provide students with the knowledge of starting levels in road design, planning and designing levels, road class, traffic, environmental requirements for road construction, road characteristics, road route and bed designing requirements. Also the course aims to provide students with knowledge of road pavement design, design solutions for junctions, structures and their design on roads; sidewalk design solutions; networks and road crossings settlements.
AimAfter successful completion of the course student knows the starting levels in road design, planning and designing levels, road class, traffic, environmental requirements for road construction, road characteristics, road route and bed designing requirements, road pavement design, design solutions for junctions, structures and their design on roads; sidewalk design solutions; networks and road crossings settlements.
