Classification of the geodetic measurement errors. Sources of the measurement errors. Evaluation criteria for measurement errors. Accuracy of double-measurements. Errors of the functions of the measured quantities. Non-equal measurements. Weighted mean. Root mean square error of the non-equal measurements. Fundamentals and applications of the least squares method. Random and systematic errors. Principles of the normal distribution of the random errors

General aim

The objective of the course is to provide to students the knowledges of measurement errors, their nature and size, as well the methods of evaluation.

Having successfully passed, students shall know basic concepts of theory of measurement errors and they can process measurement data.
