General description

Overview about AutoCAD user interface. The general principles of computer design. Understanding of coordinate system. Objects (line, circle, arc), the creation and modification. Simple design methods. The digital accuracy using ortho and osnap modes. Object properties (color, linetype) the Setting and change, drawing layers. Polyline. The concept of creation and modification.
Creating Text. Different text types (dtext, mtext). Understanding text styles. Editing text. Drawing dimensions. Creating dimension styles and substyles. Leaders. Color dependent plot styles, plotting the drawing from model space.
Various methods to improve drawing speed and accuracy. Creating and editing curves (ellipse, spline). Point object. Getting information from drawing - obtain point coordinates, distance and area (circumference) measurements. Creating simple regions and more complex shapes. Calculating the centroid and moments of inertia. Plotting from paper space. Page setup. Creating floating viewports, setting exact scale for viewport. User coordinate systems (ucs). Creating, saving and restoring a custom ucs.
Working with Blocks. Creating and inserting into drawings. Defining an attributes, creating and adding to the block contents. Inserting blocks with attributes. Editing attributes.
Structural detailing drawing - drafting and printing.

General aim

The aim of AutoCAD is to introduce students to basic information, skills, and concepts related to drafting and design.

Aim

· Have thoroughly familiar with the AutoCAD user interface, navigate the interface, open and close files, use the Zoom commands to adjust the display of objects on the screen. Has acquired the general principles of digital drafting.
· be able to create and modify most of AutoCAD objects, using different data input techniques, and adjust the properties of objects.
· be able to create and edit annotation objects using multiline and single line text, manage dimensions and dimension styles
· able to draft and design 2D architectural and structural drawings
· able to obtain geometric information from the objects in the drawing
· able to create layouts, and create and manipulate viewports on the layouts, create and use page setups, and plot your designs from layouts and model space.
