General description

Modern trends of the world’s working environment policy and the main principles of an ergonomic approach. Modern directions of working environment policy in the world and Estonia. Cost-effectiveness of a stress-free, healthy, safe working environment that fosters creativity and motivation. Stress and psychological risk factors as the creators of the most significant economic loss in a working environment. Risk communication as a provider of new solutions for the risk assessment. Working environment flexibility. Body position movement: ergonomic principles. Environmental ergonomics. Information and work operation: ergonomic recommendations. Work place ergonomics. Ergonomic recommendation for a tool. Shape of a tool and handle. Lifting: ergonomic recommendations. Ergonomic recommendations to the loads being lifted, carrying, pulling and pushing. Human factor as the key link of occupational health and safety. Employer in the key position for improving the modern working environment.

General aim

The objective of the course is to introduce modern directions in working environment policy and the principle basics of ergonomics, the application of which is recognised in the developed world as the most efficient and economical way in order to develop a stress-free healthy working environment that fosters creativity and motivation, to decrease hazards and inexpedient expenditures and to raise productivity and quality.

Aim

Having passed the course the student:
- knows modern directions in working environment policy and
- knows the principle basics of ergonomics;
- can assess hazards and develop a healthy working environment.
