Subject 'Special Machining Technologies'Name in Estonian: Eritöötlustehnoloogiad
General descriptionOverview of the methods of special-machining: electrical discharge machining (wire- and volumetric electrical discharge), plasma arc machining, laser-beam machining, abrasive waterjet machining, chemical and photochemical machining. Equipment actuating and preparing the control program. Software packages.
General aimThe aim of the course is to give knowledge about special-machining-technologies used in machine building, methods, production, surface roughness, accuracy and application. Short overview is given about equipment and comparison with other machining technologies.
AimThe student who has mastered this course knows the content and usage of special-machining-technologies and comparison with other machining technologies.

Evaluation methodsCourse ends with a preliminary exam, which is considered to be performed successfully, when all four tasks are resolved positively. The evaluation is a six point scale: excellent (5) very Good (4), good (3), satisfactory (2), weak (1) and poor (0). Evaluation criterion is the accuracy of solving tasks, whereas the permissible limits and deadlines are taken into consideration.
