TTK University of Applied Sciences
Subject 'General and Textile Chemistry'Name in Estonian: Üld- ja tekstiilikeemia
General descriptionThe main classes of organic compunds. Polymerization, polycondensation. Characteristic groups. Classification and properties of fibres. Ways of fibre processing: oxidation, reduction, dyeing, types of dye, bleaching, washing, surface active substances, mercerizing.
General aimThe aim of the course is
- to provide knowledge in the fields of organic chemistry, which are related to the theoretical foundation of textile fibers manufacture ( polymeric carbohydrates, polyesters, polyethers, polyamides etc.); - to introduce the classifications and basics of manufacture of natural, artificial and synthetic fibres, and the basics of leather chemistry. AimAfter completing the course students
- know the most essential classes of organic compounds, which are used to manufacture synthetic fibres; - understand the essence of the chemical reactions in the fibre manufacturing processes (polymerization, polycondensation); - are familiar with the classifications of fibres, their physical and chemical properties, the possibilities of application and the ways of processing. Form descriptionLectures, seminars.
