General description

During the practical training the student will perform specific work tasks assigned to him/her by a responsible specialist from the company.
The student may perform different tasks in the following fields:
• transportation – transport organizer’s assistant, terminal operator, vehicle driver
• warehousing – warehouse operator, warehouse front-line staff assistant
• purchasing and inventory management – purchase manager’s assistant
• customer service – front-line staff assistant, sales secretary’s assistant
• production and material management – material manager’s assistant, production planner’s assistant, blue-collar worker

General aim

The goal of the practical training is to give future logisticians primary knowledge of the activity of a company, offering services in the field of production, commerce or logistics, as
well as experience in working in a team and being responsible for one’s work.

During the practical training the student will get acquainted with
• work arrangement in a company
• products and/or services offered
• organization structure and hierarchy
• machines, equipment and technologies
• company’s information system and information technology means
• occupational safety and prevention of accidents
• company’s development plans
• company’s logistics system and work arrangement in the field of logistics

Aim

The student
• knows the basics of company’s operation;
• knows the goals of company’s work;
• knows company’s stakeholders and their endeavours;
• understands company’s mission in society;
• understands company’s role in economy and society;
• knows the principles of companies’ work;
• is familiar with the simple work tasks that he/she had to perform during the practical training.

During the practical training the student will master the basic skills to be able to work in some field of logistics or a field closely related to logistics.

Literature

The student will compose the practical training report (8-10 pages), forming it according to the rules of TTK UAS written papers. For composing the written report the student should collect necessary information during the practical training.

The student will present the report to the TTK UAS supervisor within the first 2 weeks of the new semester.

Evaluation methods

The practical training will be completed by defending the practical training report. The board will assess the practical training as “passed” or “failed“ according to the following criteria:
• The members of the board are convinced by reading the student’s report and listening to his/her presentation that the student did work in the company and acquired new knowledge and skills there
• The practical training report conforms to the content requirements and the rules of TTK UAS written papers
• The company’s supervisor has given a positive evaluation to the student’s practical training.
