General description

Types and working cycles of internal combustion engine. Crank gear. Timing gear. Cooling system. Lubrication system. Fuel systems of Otto and diesel engines. Exhaust systems. Trends of technology and development of motor car engine. Principles of diagnostics.

General aim

The aim of the course is to familiarize the build-up of internal combustion engines used in road transport, concentrating on engines of motor cars.

Aim

Student after completing the course knows the build-up and operating principles of internal combustion engines; can use diagnostic equipment and finds, when necessary, the reasons disturbing engine work. The course will be completed after the student defends his/her six laboratory tasks.

Lectures - 32 hours, laboratory work - 16 hours. Exam.
