General description

Purpose of car transmission and its elements. Transmission ratios and its action to car dynamic. Transmission schemes and its study. Friction type clutch. Manual mechanical transmission. Sequential gearbox with automated clutch. Hydro mechanical automated gearbox. Automated gearbox with double clutch. Final drive and differential. Propeller shaft and drive axles. Four wheel drive as multi-drive system. Hybrid car transmission. Electrical car transmission.

General aim

Give knowledge of typical layouts of transmission and construction types and its impact to car body and chassis service and fault diagnosis.

Aim

Student knows construction of car manual transmission, automated transmission, hybrid car transmission and electrical car transmission. Student can evaluate various types of transmissions and adjust its service according to properties.

Form description

Evaluation methods

There are two individual practical works:
Analysis of manual transmission
Analysis of automated transmission
During lectures there are two individual works and control work with equal weight.
It is mandatory to have at least fifty one percent score at each work and deadlines have to be met.
All works build up a portfolio which gives sixty percent of final grade and rest is its discussion and self evaluation.
