General description

History and classification of sewing machines. Basic parts of sewing machines. Needles. Universal sewing machines. Special purpose sewing machines. Cloth cutting machines. Hot-wet processing equipment. Ironing and completion equipment.

General aim

To give knowledge about
- construction of sewing machines;
- equipment of contemporary sewing industry;
- choice of equipment according to work process.

Aim

On completion of the course students
- are familiar with the catalogues of contemporary sewing equipment;
- is able to operate, maintain and repair basic sewing machines;
- can relate sewing equipment to contemporary sewing materials and technology.

Form description

Lectures, laboratory work, independent work. Grading at the end of the course.
